Care Bags For The Homeless

Updated: Apr 20, 2021

Greetings,

Our ministry to the homeless is about to take off! At the end of January, I met with Danny Salas, one of our old-newcomers. Danny had been doing some work with the homeless already, so I approached him about leading us in this project. After discussing what I had in mind, he agreed. Thank you, Danny!

We decided to put together "Care Bags" with essentials to hand out to homeless people we encounter in Del Rio. We established a list of necessary items and a sign-up sheet, so that you can tell us what item(s) you would like to provide. Liz Miller, our secretary, has the list in her office

If you call Liz, she'll let you know what items we are still in need of. Once you make your selection, she'll write your name by the item and specify how many of them you can donate. Bring the items to church between today and Feb 20th, and Danny and Liz will get them organized.

Next, mark your calendars for Sunday, February 21st, our "Care Bag" Day! On that Sunday, after church, we will form an assembly line and fill the bags. Those who wish to, can take a bag to carry in their car to hand out to a homeless person they encounter in our community. The rest of the bags will be stored at the church to hand out to homeless people that come to our church, or to replace bags as they are used by the participants in this project. This will be an ongoing project, so we'll keep you updated.

Here is a list of the items needed:

* Water Bottles

* Granola/Cereal Bars

* Fruit/applesauce cups

* Peanut butter/cheese crackers

* Tuna/Chicken w/crackers set with pop top lids

If you would rather make a monetary donation to this project, you may bring it in person or use the "Give Now" button on our website. Please call the office to let us know or leave a comment below telling us your name and that you donated, so that we can assign the money's to this project. You may reach us at (830) 308-300.

Blessings,

Fr. Arnoldo
