St. James Episcopal School
Dear Families and Friends of St. James Episcopal School,
“This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine”
Every day at St. James School I have the opportunity to be blinded by all the shining lights I see around campus! I see lights shining in the faces of preschoolers who are studying spiders, firemen, and plants, and share with me that God created all these wonderful things for us to enjoy. I see lights shining in first graders when they plant their Three Sisters Garden, and use their harvests to feed people in our community. I see lights shining in the faces of second graders as they learn about pioneers and the hardships they faced as they traveled across our nation in covered wagons; all the while praying for God’s protection during their journey. I see lights shining in the faces of fifth graders when they take their annual field trip to Prude Ranch, and discover the glory of God in the night sky. I see lights shining in the faces of middle school students when they learn they’ve contributed the most money on Penny Days, which is applied to our outreach projects. I see lights shine in the faces of our faculty and staff when children understand that each one of them has a special gift that God has given them, and we discover those gifts here at school. I see lights shining in the faces of our parents when their child gets an A on a test because of their hard work, or they hear how compassionate, understanding, and giving their child is towards others. I see lights shining in the faces of those in our community when our students visit the nursing home to read and sing to the residents, when our students fill the shelves of our local food bank, or when soldiers overseas write thank you letters to our students.
St. James has been a part of our community for over 50 years, and we have seen this school grow from a kindergarten school in 1955 to a school full of four year olds through 8th graders. We have a science lab, a computer lab, a music room and an art room to give our students a well balanced education in core areas and fine arts. We have an outdoor learning center to teach students about plants and nature, and a recycling program to teach them how to help our environment. Our chapel services help students understand God’s plan for us in this world. Our outreach projects help people locally, nationally and internationally. Our lights not only shine in the school, but across the world!
Our school emits a beam of bright light that keeps us connected with our spiritual selves while providing the best education possible for our future leaders. St. James Episcopal School is a place where children learn to love and love to learn!
God Bless,
