St. James Episcopal School
Chapel services are an important part of our program at
St. James School. Students are given the opportunity to lead the
chapel service each week, which helps them build leadership and
speaking skills while reinforcing how God is ever present in our
daily lives.

St. James Episcopal School students understand the importance of service to others, locally and globally. Each week our students gather their pennies to bring to chapel for their “penny day” offering. By collecting pennies, we teach children that by working together, we can make a difference! Soldiers have more helmet liners, gift baskets and phone cards thanks to all the wonderful donations in pennies and dollars! We continued this year to contribute to the Heifer Organization so a menagerie of animals could be purchased for a poverty stricken community—including honey bees and baby chicks! Trinity Episcopal School in Galveston needed desperate help in rebuilding after Hurricane Ike. Our donated funds have helped them get back on their feet. St. Paul’s Church in Haiti continues to receive our support as well.
The 3rd grade students fix dessert for Meals on Wheels every Wednesday complete with a hand-written note for the recipients of the meals! The card contains a sincere message expressing their love and care for those who participate in the “Meals on Wheels” program. It has become a consistent trait of all the students to be so generous with their time and thoughts and prayers.
The Students also continue to visit the Del Rio Nursing
Home to read and share companionship to those living in the home.
All of St. James students, families, faculty and staff have a strong commitment to service and outreach. We thank everyone who continues to participate through giving, time, effort and money to help those in need.
