St. James Episcopal School
At
St. James School we strive to provide our students with a solid,
well rounded education, based on Christian values.
Our curriculum is tied with teachings of Christian doctrine
so as to turn out well-educated and well-valued children in a
competitive society. At St. James we welcome students of all
faiths and backgrounds, and as an Episcopal school we
endeavor to integrate religious and spiritual teachings into
our basic curriculum. As a part of our offered
education, we seek to help our students understand their feelings
and beliefs towards
religion, God, human beings, and our community. St. James is
not just a school, it is a support system. We are a
community. We are a family.

As
part of school activities, students attend chapel three times
a week. It is a time for all our students to come together
for worship.
During every chapel service, students participate in
intercessory prayers, which include prayers for family,
friends, pets, our armed forces, the leaders of our school, church
and nation, and countries around the world. Many times, former
students or faculty will call the school to be added to the prayer
list because they
remember what an important role prayer has at St. James School.
In addition to the prayers in chapel, we also have a Prayer
Tree in the school building. Prayers are added to our prayer tree on
“leaves” and as students pass the tree, they read a name on a leaf
and say a small prayer for that person. The Prayer Tree provides a
visual for everyone who enters the school to remind them to pray for
those people in need whose names are on our tree.
